Some of the best advertising deals available are now in print, but there’s a reason. Newspaper readership is declining. However, newspapers reach an educated and informed demographic and always should be considered part of the advertising campaign.
An alternative to larger daily papers are local weekly papers. These reach an informed public concerned with local news or interested in catching the scores of the local high school or community sports' teams.
As with all advertising mediums, it is important to keep your ad clear and concise. With print ads, make sure you place your primary message in the headline. The truth is the average reader won’t see past the headline.
Always use color in your ad. While it may cost 50% more, it is 100% more effective. And do not pack too much in your ad – even if it’s a full page. Remember that white space around your message and photos’ help your ads stand out.
